Observer: System Redux’s New Story Content Will Make the Average Playthrough About 20% Longer

But everything depends "on the individual gaming style of the player."

Bloober Team are going to take a big step into the next generation of consoles later this year when their new horror game, The Mediumlaunches for the Xbox Series X- but right alongside that, they’ll also be revitalizing one of their older games. Observer: System Redux is also coming to the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, and promises improved visuals, gameplay improvemets, new story content, and more.

But as far as story content is concerned, exactly how meaty can we expect it to be? Speaking to GamingBolt, Szymon Erdmanski, Project Manager at Bloober Team, said that though it’s hard to nail down an exact number for how much longer the new content will make the game, on average, it should make the average playthrough of Observer about 20 per cent longer- depending on your playstyle, of course.

“The new story content is interwoven with the rest of the game, so it’s hard to put an exact number, but an average playthrough should be 20% longer,” he said. “Remembering, of course, that everything depends on the individual gaming style of the player.”

Given that Observer was roughly a 7 hour game, we’re looking at a length of roughly 8.5-9 hours for Observer: System Redux. But again, if you choose to explore more thoroughly and engage with the optional content, it might even become 10 hours.

But what exactly is the nature of this content going to be? Erdmanski told us that the new content will work to make the experience more immersive and help played “better understand the harsh reality and unsettling minds” of various characters in the game, including the protagonist.

“The new story content allows the player to participate in a couple of additional investigations,” he said. “They flesh out the game world. We want the player to better understand the harsh reality and unsettling minds that Observers like Dan Lazarski have to work with on a daily basis. We are excited to deliver a new immersive experience to the gamers.”

Observer: System Redux is out for PS5 and Xbox Series X this holiday. On the PS5, the developers plan on using the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback to deliver a more immersive experience. Read more on that through here.

Our full interview with Erdmanski will be going live soon, so stay tuned for that.
