It has been close to 11 years since we first saw the release of Okami on the PS2, way back in 2006. Since then, the game has become a favorite among gamers worldwide, beloved because of its beautiful art style and its originality at the time. Recently, the game has received some attention after few rumors and leaks which have suggested that a possible PS4 and Xbox One HD versions of the game might soon be released.
In the latest issue of the Weekly Edition of Famitsu, Capcom has officially announced that the game is set to release on December 21st in Japan for the PS4 and Xbox One, and on December 13th for the PC. Okami HD will support 4K resolution (although it’s not clear whether this will be only for the PC version or whether it will also be enhanced for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X).
There will also be a return of the loading screen mini-games from the original Okami for the PS2. A physical release will be available only for the PS4. It is good news enough that owners of the Xbox One and PC gamers will be able to experience this masterpiece on their preferred platforms, with an added bonus of HD resolutions.
At this point, a western release has not been confirmed yet.
