Okami HD Coming to PS4/Xbox One in December – Report

The gorgeous cel-shaded classic is apparently out on December 12th for consoles.

Capcom is apparently bringing Okami HD to the PS4 and Xbox One in December. This is according to Kotaku UK which spoke to two independent sources which were verified. It seems that two retail chains in Europe have Okami HD in their internal physical releases calendar and despite being located in different places, they both have December 17th 2017 as the release date.

While retailer information can be hit or miss at times, the sources were verified and possess information that’s more or less the same. For its part, Capcom hasn’t commented yet despite being contacted.

Okami was first released in 2006 for the PlayStation by Clover Studio (the remnants of which would go on to form Platinum Games, Ignition Entertainment and more). Despite strong critical praise, it didn’t really sell that well. It was subsequently brought to the Wii in 2008 and PlayStation 3 as an HD remaster in 2012.

Given its overall quality of story-telling, art direction and music, Okami HD on the PS4 and Xbox One could be the best version yet. We’ll have to wait this December to find out though, if the reports are indeed correct.
