Ori and the Blind Forest Profitable for Microsoft in First Week

The indie platformer was already a success for its publisher seven days after launch.

Indie platformer Ori and the Blind Forest was one of the few stand-out releases in March, garnering critical praise from all concerned. According to Moon Studios’ Thomas Mahler though, the game became profitable within a week.

Speaking on NeoGAF, Mahler said that, “Business-wise, Ori was already profitable week after release and Microsoft is super happy, so we’ll see about Ori’s future.” Though it became profitable for Microsoft in just a week, it took a “couple of weeks” before it was profitable for Moon Studios as well. As of now, sales figures haven’t been revealed and it’s estimated that they could further improve since an Xbox 360 version is also on the way.

Ori and the Blind Forest is currently available for Xbox One and PC. What are your thoughts on the game and it’s success? Let us know in the comments below and whether you’d want to see a sequel any time soon.
