From remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica to the next mainline entry in the franchise, the Resident Evil series seemingly has a number of major projects currently in the works, if leaks are to be believed, and it seems a re-release of the original entry in the series might also be in the pipeline.
That is, at least, what a recent age rating for the original Resident Evil for PC by the PEGI in Europe, spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, seems to be indicating. The survival horror title did originally launch for PC when it released in 1996, but it hasn’t been easily available on modern platforms in years, and is even unavailable on Steam. Its PEGI rating might be hinting at an upcoming re-release, something that fans have been hoping to see Capcom do for some time now.
Some recent leaks claimed that another remake of the original Resident Evil was in the works and expected to hit in 2026, to align with the series’ 30th anniversary. Since then, however, reports have debunked those claims, stating that no such project is currently being worked on.
