Overkill’s The Walking Dead Delayed to 2019 For Consoles

Currently playable at Gamescom, the PC version is still scheduled to release in November 2018.

UPDATE: According to Starbreeze Studios, who’re publishing Overkill’s The Walking Dead on PC, the decision to delay the game’s launch on consoles was made by the console version publisher 505 Games. It was done “because they want to ensure a simultaneous release of the console version digitally and in stores to achieve optimal marketing impact and maximize sales.”

Original story:

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is still on track to release this November for PC players across the world. However, the PS4 and Xbox One versions have hit a snag. Both console versions will now be releasing on February 6th, 2019 in North America and February 8th, 2019 for Europe and the rest of the world.

In the meantime, those attending Gamescom 2018 can try the game out for themselves. Head to Hall 9 of the ESL Arena where the developer is showing off the new Underpass level. Though neither the developer and publisher really indicated why the console versions were delayed, some extra polish and development time never hurt anyone.

With series creator Robert Kirkman involved (along with his company Skybound Entertainment), Overkill’s The Walking Dead offers a more action-oriented approach to its story. It supports co-op with four different characters, each having their own personality, roles, and abilities. The game itself focuses on raiding missions to locate survivors, find supplies, and avoid getting bitten by zombies.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead releases on PC November 6th 2018 for North America and November 8th 2018 for Europe.
