Season 3 of Overwatch 2 is ongoing, with the One-Punch Man collab and PachiMarchi event live till the first week of April. What does the next season hold? In new Director’s Take blog post, game director Aaron Keller confirmed that the next hero would be a Support character.
But that’s not all. Commenting that the Support role is in a “much better role now,” Keller said that new characters would join it in Seasons 4 and 6. Expect a reveal for the latest Support hero soon, while Season 5 could see the launch of a new map (going by the current release schedule).
As for the future of collaborations, Keller admitted the team was “a little worried” before the One-Punch Man collab. “Full transparency, we were a little worried about blending another universe, even one as cool as this, into Overwatch. When we first announced the collab, we talked about our values with how we’d like to handle events like these, and players seemed to agree with us.”
However, it seems the event was popular, which has given the team confidence for more collaborations. It’s hoping to premiere “another large collab” sometime this year. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
