Overwatch 2 Season 7 – Sombra Rework and Route 66 Changes Detailed

Sombra gets a new ability, Virus, and changes to Translocator and Stealth, while Route 66 will be slightly better for attackers.

With Season 7: Rise of Darkness launching next week for Overwatch 2, Blizzard Entertainment has outlined all of the changes and new content to expect in a new blog post. A new mode, Trials of Sanctuary, based on Diablo 4, and new skins, including Mythic Hanzo skin, are coming, but there’s also a rework for Sombra.

Available when the season goes live on October 10th, it sees Stealth revamped to be a passive that activates when she’s not taking damage. Her Translocator also instantly teleports, eliminating her “get-out-of-jail-free” option. She also gets Virus, a new skill ability that deals damage over time to a target, with impact damage doubled and a faster DoT if hacked.

A revamp is also coming to Route 66, with “better protection” in the form of more cover in the diner, partially closed doors past the first checkpoint, and cargo removed while nearing the final checkpoint. The lighting is also changed to be more overcast. Stay tuned for more details on all these changes when patch notes go live next week.
