Overwatch 2 Season 9: Champions Patch Will Require 38 GB of Free Space

Players who don't have the required space can uninstall the title and reinstall when the patch goes live on February 13th.

Season 9 of Overwatch 2, Champions, arrives on February 13th with an extensive rework of Competitive Play and sweeping changes to balance. It’s fitting then that it’s a “rebase” patch, which will consolidate previous patches, ensuring the overall installation size isn’t too bloated.

As outlined by community manager Kaedi on the Blizzard forums, players will need “as much as 38 GB of free space on your system when updating.” Those who don’t have the required space can uninstall and reinstall the game after the patch goes live.

Overwatch 2 Season 9: Champions will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Competitive Play changes include monitoring your rank progression in real-time, a reset to ranks, the return of placement matches, and much more. It also features a new limited-time co-op event, Cosmic Crisis, and Battle Pass, which includes a new Mythic Skin, Ancient Caller Moria.

Other upcoming content includes Gauntlet, a new Hero Mastery Mode on March 12th, where players defend towers against waves of bots. A Cowboy Bebop collaboration event is teased for mid-season as well.
