Overwatch 2’s PvE content is something that quite lot of people are looking forward to, and probably its biggest feature, especially seeing as it’s the only content in the sequel that won’t be available in the first game. Blizzard have spoken at some length about their ambitions with the story content in Overwatch 2, and how they plan on using it to expand the series’ universe, but there is a more tangible question to be asked as well- just how much of this content will the game eve have? Blizzard have said that the game’s Hero Missions are going to be “deeply replayable”, so does that mean they’ll be an important part of Overwatch 2’s endgame content?
As it turns out, yes. Speaking with EDGE in their January 2020 issue (issue 340), game director and Blizzard vice president Jeff Kaplan said that Overwatch 2 will be using its Hero Missions to deliver endgame content in some interesting ways, and that members of the development team who’ve also worked on the likes of Diablo and World of Warcraft will be integral in making that happen.
“We’re definitely going to explore what endgame means for Hero Missions,” Kaplan said. “We have many experienced developers who created content for World of Warcraft and Diablo on our team. This is one of the challenges we’re very eager to start working on.”
The game’s endlessly replayable multiplayer component will no doubt have plenty of content on offer as it is, especially if Blizzard support it the way they have supported the first game since its launch, so the prospect of having even more replayable endgame content in the form of PvE missions is certainly exciting, to say the least.
Overwatch 2 is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, but the game currently doesn’t have release date.
