Overwatch Cross-Platform Play: Blizzard Keeping An Eye on Possibilities

Only for consoles though.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch doesn’t support cross-platform play across its three platforms but there is at least some possibility that it hits consoles in the future.

Responding to a query about cross-platform play, the official Overwatch Twitter stated that currently “There is no cross platform play. We’ll keep an eye on cross-platform possibilities on the consoles.”

Don’t expect cross-platform compatibility with PC and consoles anytime in the future though. With regards to whether PS4 players can compete with PC players in the future, the developer said, “We have no plans for that. Mixing mouse/keyboard and controller can have balance and competitive issues.”

If you’ve been witnessing some of the crazy moves that PC players can pull off, you’d be inclined to agree. Regardless, with games like Rocket League supporting cross-platform support, it remains to be seen if other games – and companies like Sony – will jump on the bandwagon in the future. Would you like see to cross-platform play for Overwatch? Let us know in the comments.
