Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch is currently experiencing its Winter Wonderland event, spreading cheer and new cosmetics (via loot boxes but hey, it’s the thought that counts) along with revamped maps and a new game mode. However, director Jeff Kaplan found a different way to draw the attention of fans…by simply sitting by a fireplace. For almost 10 hours. Seriously.
Kaplan didn’t do much in that time. He would shift here and there, ate a cookie, played Hearthstone on his mobile phone and even teased a new hero (which was conveniently interrupted by a “glitch” so it was likely a joke). Overall, it was an intriguing exercise and one that attracted over 39,000 Twitch viewers.
It could be interrupted as Kaplan providing company to those who had none on the Christmas holiday. It could also be that he was bored and just wanted to mess with people. Or maybe there’s some cryptic meaning to this ritual that we don’t yet comprehend. Either way, the VOD on Twitch if you want to experience 10 hours of pure, unadulterated Jeff Kaplan for yourself.
