Overwatch Hits 7 Million Players, 119 Million Hours Played Since Launch

Blizzard CEO "ecstatic" for successful launch.

Though it’s numbers aren’t quite as high as the open beta, Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch has 7 million players (and growing) since launching last week. Other impressive stats include 119 million hours of play-time for all players combined, 326 million heroes swapped and 11 million payloads delivered.

Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime stated that, “Over the months and weeks leading up to release we saw a lot of love and support for Overwatch — from Blizzard gamers, FPS fans, and people who’d never picked up a game like this before — and we’re very grateful for everyone’s incredible passion and enthusiasm.

“We poured a lot of effort into creating a game — and a new universe — that anyone could enjoy. We’re ecstatic to have had such a successful launch, and we’re looking forward to all of the fun, competition, and new content still to come.”

Overwatch is currently available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will receive an update later this month to introduce Competitive Play to the mix.
