Overwatch Patch 1.14 Finally Adds Reporting For Xbox One and PS4

Console players can finally report others for abuse and cheating.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch will finally be receiving a feature that players on Xbox One and PS4 have been craving seemingly since the game’s launch: a Report function.

Though this is already available on PC, the ability to Report other players for griefing, abusive chat, cheating and so on was never available in the console versions of the game. Patch 1.14 is going to alleviate that – it’s currently the same patch that’s being tested on the Public Test Realm for PC.

Director Jeff Kaplan announced the news on the official forums. “Thanks for being so patient with us. Also, it’s important to note the reporting system and punishments are very much an ongoing development for us.”

The overall system of reporting will also be improved over time. Kaplan noted that, “We are working on increased punishments for high frequency offenders, email notifications when your reports result in disciplinary action (we’re experimenting with this right now and we’ll expand this as we refine it) and eventually notifications in the game client when your report results in disciplinary action.”

Patch 1.14 is also significant because it adds Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch as new Arcade modes, a brand new map called Château Guillard, and hero balance changes for Junkrat, Widowmaker, Orisa and Roadhog. A release date for the patch hasn’t been confirmed. Blizzard also announced that it will be showcasing a brand new map and animated short for Overwatch at Gamescom on August 23rd.
