Blizzard’s Overwatch was a big part of Activision’s year end financial earnings call. It helped set a record for strongest release year financial performance for any title in the company’s entire history.
Not only has it hit the 25 million player registrations mark but it did so faster than any other Blizzard title. If that weren’t enough, the hero shooter’s appeal has been equal in both the East and West.
The company as a whole noted record hours during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year along with a record revenue of $2,428 million for all of its games. About 60 percent of revenue came from non-World of Warcraft titles with 20 percent revenue coming from consoles.
Overwatch will continue to grow with monthly events, new features (like the recent Server Browser for custom games that’s hit the PTR) and much more.
