Overwatch World Cup Returning in 2017

32 teams to compete for glory.

The Overwatch World Cup has been announced to be returning in 2017. Blizzard has announced some interesting changes for how it will work this year.

As per its announcement page, it will be looking at the skill ratings for the top 100 Competitive players from each country. Each nation’s average will be used in April to determine the top 32 countries which will compete in the live qualifiers.

Furthermore, players from the top 32 countries will form the 2017 Overwatch World Cup National Committee with three local experts looking at the best roster picks throughout the competition. Each country will have ten nominees and it’s up to players to vote on who they want.

Live qualifiers will take place worldwide in four group stage events. Eight teams will battle for an entire week across North America, Europe and Asia and the top two teams that finish will automatically head to the Overwatch World Cup finals at Blizzcon 2017.
