Overwatch’s Blizzard World Not Out This Week, “Almost Ready For Release”

Director Jeff Kaplan says the team is "committed to releasing it early this year."

In a recent developer update, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan offered brief teases over what to expect from the hero shooter in 2018. There was some teasing about the next hero, the Lunar New Year event, more changes to Competitive Play and so on. However, Kaplan clarified in a later forum post that Blizzard World – the amusement park-esque map that’s been in the Public Test Realm since November – won’t be out this week.

Kaplan noted on the official forums that, “We’re glad that you all are so excited for Blizzard World. The map is almost ready for release but not quite there yet. It won’t be out this week but we are committed to releasing it very early this year!”

That could mean that the map arrives next week or even the week after following some further polish. It could likely coincide with the Lunar New Year event which last took place in late January 2017. Either way, expect a whole bunch of new Overwatch content to hit later this month.

As for further changes to heroes like Junkrat and Mercy? Keep waiting for more information on them. Regardless of what’s coming, we’ll just have to keep waiting.
