Overwatch’s Junkertown Will Skip Competitive Play For One Week

The newest Escort map will be available in almost every other mode however.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch has received a new map in the form of Junkertown. The Escort map is set on the home turf of Roadhog and Junkrat in Australia as attackers push the payload to Queen’s throne room while the defenders try to stop them. Why would Overwatch’s various heroes try to help or hinder the Junker duo? That’s not a question for us.

However, one place this struggle won’t be happening is in the Competitive playlist. As per Blizzard’s lead engineer Bill Warnecke on the official forums, Junkertown will not be available in Competitive Play until next week.

This is usually done to allow players to get used to the map before having to play it with higher stakes. Of course, it also offers live users – who never tried the map – to be on even footing with players who may have had access to the PTR.

Along with Junkertown, the newest Overwatch update also provided new ability for D.Va and a new Ultimate for Mercy. What are your thoughts on Junkertown thus far? Let us know in the comments.
