There has been a new Overwatch bug going around recently, which affects what kill (or kills) gets awarded the Play of the Game at the end of each match. A lot of people have reported this issue repeatedly, and it seems to be quite a common complaint amongst the regular players of the game.
The glitch is the only Play of the Game glitch that has persisted in the game for a month now. What happens is that while awarding Play of the Game, the game only takes into account kills from the very last round of the map itself. The glitch happens mostly on Competitive Play maps, and doesn’t seem to occur in Control maps at all.
For instance, a Reddit user who reported this glitch also gave an example of what it does: they made a quad kill earlier in the game, but the game awarded Play of the Game to a double kill in the last round. Read about it and watch it through the hyperlink above.
It seems that Blizzard have also listened to and responded to this issue. Will Warnecke, lead software engineer at Blizzard, says that the bug has been fixed internally and that said fix should be included in the next major patch for the game.
