Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter recently spoke at the Game Monetization USA Summit in San Francisco and talked about the failure of the Wii U, especially with regards to how the company hasn’t tried to create new fans via bringing its content to other platforms.
He especially placed the blame on Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, stating that, “I don’t know why Iwata is still employed.” He also believes lifetimes sales for the Wii U will max out at 30 million.
The analyst had more love for Sony, predicting the PlayStation platform will thrive.
As for the PlayStation 4, he stated that, “The graphics are phenomenal, and the huge RAM makes future innovation likely,” he said, also praising its CPU power.” He also believes it will get ahead of the Xbox One due to its price, though a new model for Microsoft’s console with a built in TV tuner is expected.
Nonetheless, there won’t be all that much growth in this console generation. “I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there.” Do you agree? Let us know below.
