It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard anything about Palworld, especially with early access still slated to end this year. One can’t help but wonder where it could slot in, given the ever-increasing threat of Grand Theft Auto 6 in November, but Pocketpair may already be making moves. Gematsu discovered trademark for Palworld Online in the United States, while Inven found the same in South Korea.
Both were filed within days of each other (April 27th and 24th), and usually, that would mean an announcement is afoot. Lest you think this is for a brand-new game (which is always possible), it could be related to Palworld’s current multiplayer mode, which supports up to 32 players on one server.
On the one hand, this could be a simple name change, but perhaps Pocketpair is looking to expand on the same with 1.0. Maybe we’ll see increased player counts or a more MMO-like approach to multiplayer. We’ll have to wait to find out, but these trademarks could indicate an announcement at some point in the near future.
Palworld is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PC. While the developer has yet to really dive into everything coming in 1.0, publishing head and communications lead John Buckley claims that it will “surprise people.” Of course, there’s the hope that it delivers “kind of something for everyone.”
