Even in its early access form, Palworld has attracted a massive audience, selling over 7 million copies and becoming Steam’s second-highest concurrently played game to date, and clearly, the audience that it has attracted has had great things to say about it. As an early access game though, there’s still plenty more to come, and developer Pocketpair has offered a glimpse of what that will entail in a roadmap recently shared on Twitter.
For starters, the developer says that with Palworld’s sales having “far exceeded the team’s expectations”, it is “currently experiencing many problems due to excessive access congestion”, something that it plans to address on priority, before it moves on to adding new features and content to the game. Upcoming critical fixes will include bug fixes, configuration improvements, improvements to base Pal AI and pathing, and more.
Beyond that, moving into the territory of new content and gameplay features that Pocketpair has planned for the coming weeks and months, the developer has reiterated that it will be adding PvP (as well as PvP for Pals with a Pal Arena), endgame content in the form of Raid bosses, and improvements to the building mechanics. You can also expect cross-play support, server transfers and migrations, and “various” feature improvements for the game’s Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One version.
And, of course, on top of that, Palworld will also be adding new islands, Pals, bosses, and Technologies.
In our review of Palworld’s early access version, we gave it a score of 7/10, saying, “Palworld is equal parts charming and dark, with a massive world and no restrictions on exploration. Combat needs some fine-tuning and the survival crafting may not be for everyone, but it’s early access release is a solid starting point.” Read the full review through here.
Palworld is available in early access on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. A PS5 version might also be on the horizon.
