Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Turn-Based Mode Coming to PC in August

Tutorials, a combat log, and more will be included for the mode.

Owlcat Games is bringing Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition to Xbox One and PS4 this year. Along with the base game, which has received additional polish and features since its launch, fans will also get access to all of the DLC. However, perhaps the most interesting feature is the option for turn-based combat.

It’s actually based off of a fan-made mod, which the developer liked so much that it decided to officially implement it into Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Thankfully, as per IGN, PC players of Pathfinder: Kingmaker will also get access to turn-based combat when the console versions launch in August. There will also be gamepad support on PC, which makes it even easier to use since you just need to press the right thumbstick in.

As for how turn-based combat works, there’s no queuing of attacks – you attack with one character and then immediately move to the next character. The best part is that if the battle is a foregone conclusion, it’s possible to click in the right thumbstick and go right back to real-time combat. Tutorials for turn-based combat will also crop up when it’s used the first time with a combat log also denoting damage dealt, bonuses and whether it landed or missed.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition releases on August 18th for Xbox One and PS4. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
