Payday 3 Developer Confirms Only One Player Needs to Own DLC for Others to Play

Similar to Payday 2, if you don't own the DLC and join the lobby of someone who does, you can play the new heist for free.

Following its latest update that added two new Legacy Heists to Payday 3, Starbreeze Studios is focusing on its first paid DLC – Syntax Error. It’s out in Winter 2023 and set after the events of Touch the Sky, with Shade discovering valuable software for a new drone OS. You can find it in Scri Digital, located in downtown Manhattan and protected by an intelligent and dangerous AI.

Smuggle it out, and you can make some crazy money. You’ll have to deal with a new enemy type, the Techie, a support unit for the police that can scout out any heisters. However, perhaps the best part of the DLC is, like with Payday 2, only one player needs to own it for others to play. If you don’t have it but join a lobby host who does, you gain access to the new heist at no cost.

Along with the heist, players also get a Tailor Pack, which includes four new outfits, gloves and masks, and a Weapon Pack with an SMG, shotgun and marksman rifle. Stay tuned for more details on the release date of Syntax Error in the coming weeks.
