The wait for Payday 3 has been long one, but developer Starbreeze has made it clear in recent months that development on the co-op heist shooter is continuing to ramp up, and that a release is in the pipeline for sometime later this year. Though details on exactly when in that window have been scant so far, it seems a specific release date may have emerged.
According to @ALumia_Italia, a reliable leaker who routinely datamines and tracks the Xbox store backend and any updates made to it, Payday 3 is set to launch on September 21.
Starbreeze and publisher Prime Matter have insisted time and again that the first person shooter will be out this year, and if a September release is indeed on the docket, an announcement could be made soon.
Last month, a brief teaser trailer was released for Payday 3, which confirmed that a full gameplay reveal will be coming sometime this Summer. Whether or not that’s referring to Summer Game Fest, which is set for June 8, remains to be seen.
Payday 3 is in development for PC and consoles. There’s no official word yet on whether or not it will be cross-gen.
