PC Mods Are Finally (Re) Enabled in Dying Light

Mods are now finally available again.

The story of Dying Light and mods has been a messy one so far, mostly just due to misunderstandings all around, but that has finally changed, as the newest update for Dying Light finally re-enables mods and community creation and editing tools, just as Techland promised.

Patch 1.4.0 updates the game for modding, though there are a few catches- you (obviously) need to update your game to mod the game; others you are playing your modded games with must also be on 1.4.0. And even if you have the original, unpatched game (which allowed for modding), you need to update to 1.4.0 if you want to play modded games online.

Techland has assured us that the blocking of mods was a mistake, and they were very apologetic about this. “Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention,” they said. “We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game’s multiplayer mode.

And now, they’ve come through. Good on them.
