Persona 5 brought Atlus’ beloved RPG series kicking and screaming into the mainstream, and the Japanese developer has certainly been looking to capitalize on the series’ meteoric rise. Currently, Atlus is in the midst of a multi-month plan involving a series of announcements to celebrate Persona’s 25th anniversary, and while many are hoping that one of these announcements will be Persona 6, it seems one might also see us sticking with Persona 5 for a while longer.
Known insider Zippo recently claimed in a post on their blog that a new Persona 5 spinoff is currently in development, and will focus entirely on mostly-but-not-always-antagonist character Goro Akechi. Zippo says that details on the game are largely scarce right now, but it’s not going to be an RPG, and will instead “focus on [Akechi’s] adventures and skills as a star detective.”
As always with leaks that can’t be verified, take this with a grain of salt for now. Besides, there’s no shortage of Persona-related rumours out there. Some months back, Zippo stated that Atlus is working on a multiplatform remaster of Persona 3, and has additionally said that Persona 4 Golden is also coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch– which has been corroborated by other leakers as well.
