Along with the announcement of Kiefer Sutherland playing Snake in Metal Gear Solid V and new detail about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Konami also took a moment to talk about Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, which will be releasing this year for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PSP.
Creative producer Kei Masuda stated that, “This time, we’ve changed direction and focused on the total package, including user experience, player controls and more. We are planning many more features. We will announce these updates in the near feature.”
We already learned about the use of Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine. This will be used for the TrueBall system, which allows players to move the ball in any direction, allowing for greater control on the field. It will be interesting if players can dribble the ball while it’s still totally in air. There’s also the Motion Animation Stability System or M.A.S.S. that governs collision physics and animation, making both feel more dynamic as a result.
Then there’s Heart. It sounded ridiculous at first but we find the addition of a wild card like the psyche of the player affecting his performance for better or worse to be intriguing. Stay tuned for more details as we approach E3.
