Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Delayed to May 8th

Obsidian is taking time to incorporate backer beta feedback.

Obsidian Entertainment’s next big crowd-funded RPG Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has been delayed. Originally slated to release on April 3rd, it will now be out on May 8th. In a recent message to the community, Obsidian stated it’s working to incorporate all the feedback received in the backer beta. It’s essentially adding some more polish over the next few weeks (which isn’t a bad thing given that the original wasn’t exactly bug-free).

“We know you’re as excited as we are about the upcoming launch of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game — significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity,” said the developer.

“Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make every inch of it awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta. With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game.”

Over the next few weeks, players will receive more news and information about the game to make up for the delay. Hopefully this will include more gameplay videos showcasing changes, more noteworthy things players can do and differences from the original game.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire follows the Watcher once more as their stronghold is destroyed. After recovering from a near death experience, the Watcher and his companions will travel to the new region of Deadfire to find Eothas. Like the original game, any decisions you make will affect the outcome of the story. Decisions from the first game will change the gameplay and plot for the sequel.
