PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Sells Over 15 Million Units

Bluehole's Battle Royale experience continues to grow its user base at an astronomical rate.

Though Bluehole has yet to officially announce the same, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds now has over 15 million total players as per SteamSpy. The actual total is 15,683,386 (± 114,192) players and once again, considering the game launched on March 23rd in Early Access, this is simply unprecedented.

This is different from the peak concurrent player total which is rapidly approaching 2 million players, a new record high in Steam’s history. It’s funny when you think about it because Bluehole never expected the game to sell more than a few hundred thousand copies. Over the past few months, it’s become a phenomenon.

More content is still planned for the Battle Royale experience like a brand new map, a new system to allow players to vault over obstacles and much more. Xbox One players will also get their hands on it later this year via the Game Preview program. Despite Microsoft supporting Bluehole so much, reports have indicated that it could come to PS4 as well.
