PlayStation 5 is Now “Much Easier” to Find at Retailers Worldwide – Sony

“Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward," said Sony's Jim Ryan.

Sony’s press conference at CES 2023 wasn’t too over the top, but it still dropped some big announcements. Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan revealed that over 30 million PS5 units had been sold thus far, with December 2022 being its biggest month ever. However, Sony believes it will be “much easier” for everyone to find a PlayStation 5 at retailers worldwide from now on.

Ryan also revealed, “Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward.” While time will tell just how true that is, the console is available to purchase through online retailers like Amazon. It’s in stark contrast to supply deficiencies spurred by a lack of components and overwhelming demand, which have been present since the PS5’s launch in November 2020.

It should be interesting to see how this affects Sony’s rumored plans for a new PS5 model. Reports have indicated that this model will have a detachable disc drive and that the manufacturer seeks to sell 30 million units in the fiscal year 2023 alone. Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details.
