Ever since Microsoft launched Xbox Game Pass, many wondered how Sony’s PlayStation Now would compete especially since it doesn’t offer first party games at launch. However, the company is looking to be competitive with price cut coming today. PlayStation Network VP Grace Chen announced on the PlayStation Blog that the streaming service would cost $9.99 per month starting today.
Of course, this also affects the quarterly and yearly rates which will be $24.99 and $59.99 respectively from today. It was also announced that God of War, Grand Theft Auto 5 (which is download only), inFamous: Second Son, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be available starting today. They’re playable until January 2nd 2020 as part of an initiative to offer a “new selection of marquee games” each month on top of the current catalog.
Whether this will allow Sony to get a leg-up on Microsoft in the subscription space remains to be seen. But with over 100 million consoles shipped worldwide, over 30 million of that number being units sold in the United States, it’s not sweating in terms of hardware.
