Are you one of the many who have already pre-ordered the Playstation VR, or who intend to purchase it soon? Well, then you may want to make sure you have enough space to be able to use it properly. Much like Microsoft’s Kinect came with its own space requirements, so too does PlayStation VR need a certain amount of space minimum to be used properly.
A PlayStation VR document uploaded to Reddit reveals that Sony recommends a play-area of 3m by 1.9m- funnily enough, however, it also recommends that users remain seated while using the PlayStation VR, and at a distance 0.6m from the PlayStation Camera.
“Limit your use of PS VR to within the Play Area,” Sony says. “The height of the Play Area depends on the range captured by the camera. Clear an area larger than the Play Area of all obstacles before using PS VR and remain seated whenever possible. If an application requires you to stand while wearing, the VR headset, follow the application instructions carefully, and maintain awareness of your surroundings”.
The PlayStation VR is set to launch on October 13 worldwide. It will be available for $399 standalone in North America, with a $499 bundle also including the appropriate PlayStation Move controller, and the required PlayStation Camera.
