Pokemon GO Continues Its Resurgence in September, Up 89% Year on Year

To answer the longstanding question: yes, people still play Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO has been on resurgence over the last few months, thanks to some great updates (ones that are out now and ones that are promised) adding long awaited features to the game at last, plus some great Pokemon and community events added to the game. That resurgence continued in September as well, with Niantic’s AR game making $84.8 million over the month.

That number made it the fourth highest grossing app for the month, and was the highest the game has grossed in a single month since last November. It also represents a 15% month on month increase over its performance in August, and a staggering 89% increase year on year relative to how it did in September 2017, Sensor Tower reports.

The lifetime figures are even more impressive: the game has an estimated gross revenue of $2.01 billion worldwide, and 522 million downloads to date. It’s basically a monster, even now that the fad level popularity has worn off. With the upcoming addition of the fourth generation Pokemon into the game, it should keep up the pace going forward.

Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android.
