Project CARS 3 developers have promised some ambitious things for their upcoming racer on PC as far as technical stuff is concerned, from 12K resolution support to best-in-class VR, but there are some things that it won’t be supporting.
For instance, there’s no ray tracing support in the game. Speaking in an interview with Wccftech, Marketing & esports Manager at Slightly Mad Studios Joseph Barron said that though the developer is excited about the potential of VR, owing to the fact that Project CARS 3 is also being released for current-gen consoles and the fact that the developers wanted to priotitze performance above all else, ray tracing support couldn’t make it in.
“Ray tracing is an awesome new development for gaming as a whole. It’s exciting to see light and colour getting ever closer to reality,” Barron said. “For Project CARS 3, we’re still targeting the current generation of consoles and PC, so ray tracing wasn’t something that was on our radar for this particular title. We target 60FPS on all platforms since the frame rate is so crucial in simulation racing to help you to maximise your driving performance, and of course the PlayStation 4 and current Xbox consoles are not ready for ray tracing.”
Meanwhile, Barron also confirmed that though it’s something Slightly Mad Studios will consider for future titles, Project CARS 3 will not feature support for cross-platform multiplayer.
“Cross-platform play is certainly something that we will consider for future titles, but we don’t have any plans for it in Project CARS 3 right now,” he said.
Project CARS 3 releases on August 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out its PC requirements through here.
