Project Morpheus Won’t be on PC or Mobiles, Vita Compatibility Still Unknown

Sony hasn't mentioned where its VR headset will go beyond the PS4.

Sony’s Project Morpheus will bring VR gaming to the PlayStation 4 and work with the PlayStation Eye and PlayStation Move in that regard. However, it won’t be coming to PC or mobiles at this time as Sony is focusing on console functionality.

This is according to Engadget’s reports on the company’s “Driving the Future of Innovation”. Project Morpheus won’t be on PC and as of now, there’s been no talk of it heading to smartphones or tablets – a market which Sony is fairly strong in with its Xperia line-up.

Even more interestingly, Sony didn’t mention whether Morpheus would work on the PlayStation Vita. Morpheus is aimed at gamers though they would be working to get non-gamers involved as well. But with Oculus Rift coming out on PC and mobiles, it would seem that Sony is working to directly avoid competing with the device right away. Could it eventually come to smartphones and the Vita? Maybe, but for now, PS4 is where it’ll be at.
