PS4 Won’t Require PlayStation Plus for Recording, Streaming Game Videos

Despite Microsoft doing the same for Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One.

Even though Microsoft is looking to monetize the recording and steaming of video for games with the Xbox One, requiring users to have Xbox Live Gold in order to access these features, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed on Twitter to several users that this won’t be the case for the PlayStation 4.

In other words, you won’t need to purchase PlayStation Plus – Sony’s version of a paid online service for its consoles – in order to stream or record videos of games for the PlayStation 4.

That’s one more advantage that Sony has over Microsoft, along with the announcement that PlayStation Plus won’t be required to enjoy free to play games like Warframe, PlanetSide 2 and War Thunder. Considering that Sony made the Share button a part of the DualShock 4, thus enabling users to quickly and efficiently upload recorded videos online, this is nothing but good news.

PlayStation 4 is currently slated to release during the Holiday season while Xbox One launches this November.
