PS5’s SSD Will Bring About “Unprecedented” Gameplay Experiences With “Instant Scene Changes” – Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate Dev

Producer Tomohiko Sho calls the PS5's SSD a "great improvement in comfort."

How much of a difference hardware advancements in next-gen consoles will bring about is something that we can only theorize about yet. There’s plenty of talk about how the PS5 and the Xbox Scarlett will help improve game design and development processes with their specs, but how much of that actually comes true isn’t something we’ll be finding out just yet. That said, on paper, there is plenty of reason to get excited.

The PS5’s SSD is something that’s been the talk of the town ever since it was announced, about how it can help with various aspects of development, and another developer that is quite excited about its potential is Tomohiko Sho of Omega Force, director and producer on the upcoming Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate. Speaking with GamingBolt in the interview, Sho said that he expects load times and game streaming to see significant improvements with SSDs.

“I think the concept of loading as we currently know it will almost or completely disappear,” he said. “Naturally, this is a great improvement in comfort, and we hope to see an unprecedented gameplay experience created by enabling instant scene changes.”

In the same interview, Sho also spoke to us about the PS5’s Zen 2 CPU, and what benefits he foresees arising thanks to it. Read more on that through here.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate launches for the PS4 and Switch in Japan on December 19, and in the west on February 14 next year. Our full interview with Sho will be live soon, so stay tuned.
