Rainbow Six: Siege Features Havok FX for Particle FX

Havok reveals its newest physics technology.

Havok has revealed its newest middleware in Havok FX. Known for its physics technology in video games, Havok FX will take this even further as a CPU-driven, current gen particle effect physics and detail software. One of the first games to use Havok FX will be Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege releasing in October.

Havok FX may utilize the CPU but it is also acts as a more lightweight solution to dynamic particle effects across platforms. In-game shrapnel and debris that can interest with the player and environment are some of the effects made possible with Havok FX. It will be interesting to see the technology in play for Rainbow Six: Siege with the game’s reliance on smoke, explosions and environmental destruction.

Rainbow Six: Siege is only the first announced game to be using Havok FX so stay tuned for more information on other games that will use it in the future.
