If you’re like me, you’ve probably given up any real hope of ever seeing a new Splinter Cell again. It may not be impossible, but Sam Fisher just doesn’t seem to fit the mold anymore for a starring role in a Ubisoft title. But he can always be a guest star. He already has been in the Ghost Recon series, but could he be shuffling over to another Tom Clancy property with Rainbow Six Siege? Well, it seems that door is open potentially with some vague hints from the game’s Designer.
In an interview with DualShockers, Game Designer Jean-Baptiste Halle was asked about which character from other Ubisoft properties he’d put into the game as Operators and what gadgets would they come with. His answer was interesting, and could possibly hint to guests coming already.
“Ah, that is a very interesting question. I think I have to pass on this one because you’re hitting an interesting question. Honestly, a lot of them,” says Halle. “A lot of them, I think, could be interesting additions. There is a lot of characters in Ubisoft’s portfolio that could make very interesting additions in our roster. Just keep an eye on the next Operator additions this year and you might get some interesting new people coming into the roster. That’s all I can say so far.”
Now, obviously, this doesn’t mean a whole lot as of now. It could just be Halle playing around, but it’s not far fetched when you consider Fisher has popped his head twice in the Ghost Recon series as mentioned above. There’s others that would fit right into such a slot, too, from the various Tom Clancy universe that aren’t as iconic. Rainbow Six Siege is about to start their next update, Operation Steel Wave. Let’s keep our eyes peeled over this year for what is to come.
