Rainbow Six: Siege Has No Single Player Campaign

Well, crud.

Rainbow Six: Siege looks incredibly interesting a s amore grounded, nuanced take on the team based multiplayer shooter, but that is also all that it will be- Ubisoft has confirmed today that the game will not have any form of a single player campaign whatsoever. Multiplayer is all that it is. That said, the game can be played single player, by playing the multiplayer mode offline and against bots.

“There is no story mode per se,” saidArt director Scott Mitchell to WhatCulture. “You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customize matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things.”

I mean, I guess it is good that the development team is at least singularly focused on its vision of what it wants to work on and is not getting distracted by other modes and inclusions, put in there just for the sake of checking items off of a checklist, but I am still not sure that there is a market out there for multiplayer only shooters- Titanfall, for example, demonstrated that.

Rainbow Six: Siege launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this December.
