There has been a sudden spurt of leaks and rumours about Silent Hill in recent weeks. Starting with reports of two Silent Hill games supposedly being in development, it culminated in much more substantial leak earlier this month that talked about a partnership between Sony and and Konami to work on the series, going on to say that a soft reboot of the series was in the works at SIE Japan, while Sony was also attempting to mediate between Kojima Productions and Konami to get work on a Silent Hills revival underway.
It seems, however, that those rumours were false- so says Konami in a statement recently provided to Rely on Horror. When asked specifically for a comment on the newest round of rumours, a North American Konami PR representative said that those rumours were “not true.”
“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true,” they said. “I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.”
They did, however, say that that doesn’t mean Konami has no plans to work on Silent Hill at any point in the future. The Japanese publisher said not too long ago that it was considering options to bring the series back, and their US PR rep has echoed those statements.
“It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported,” they said.
So there you go. For now, the official word remains that nothing related to Silent Hill is in the works- at least not in the capacity that recent rumours have suggested. Stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated as this story develops.
