ReCore is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing upcoming games in the Xbox One’s lineup. Developed by the developers of Metroid Prime and Mega Man in collaboration, the game looks like a fantastic new take on the classic Metroid and Zelda formulas- though how well a developer other than Nintendo is able to capture that is anybody’s guess.
Like classic Metroid and Zelda games, it also sounds like it won’t be too long- but a short adventure doesn’t mean it won’t be substantive, either. Mark Pacini, director of ReCore, said that the game would have a ‘lot of value.’
“I’m horrible at gameplay hours,” Pacini said to VentureBeat. “With the first Metroid [Prime] I said it was going to be eight hours and it ended up being something like twenty four. I think we’ve put a lot of value into this game, though. It’s the proper length of time for the adventure, the story we’re trying to tell. Take that with a grain of salt, knowing I’m horrible at estimate. It’s eight hours, and take that with a warning.”
If it is anything like his own Metroid example, then, we should be good to go with a meaty, 24 hour long adventure. That said, even if it is only eight hours, I don’t think players will complain necessarily about a short, but well made, adventure (especially given ReCore‘s budget pricing).
