Rockstar Games has finally released the first gameplay video for Red Dead Redemption 2, and if you haven’t seen it, you should definitely check it out. The game is a treat for the eyes, and for those who felt the same way while watching it (which has to be everyone), we have a snippet of info for you- the gameplay footage was captured on the PS4 Pro.
Soon after the gameplay video was released, the PlayStation Blog clarified that the footage was captured on the PS4 Pro. The game was displayed in 4K resolutions on the console, but we don’t know yet how exactly it was made to run at this resolution. Our guess is that some method such as checkerboard rendering was used to for the game to run at this resolution on this console.
As for the Microsoft side of things, if you own an Xbox One X, you will be able to run the game at 4K resolutions, along with HDR support as well, but we don’t know if there will be any major differences in visual quality between the two consoles. We know this, of course, because Microsoft have mentioned this information on their own page that lists all games that feature/will feature Xbox One X enhancements.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to release for the PS4 and Xbox One on October 26.
