Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Take Up 100GB of Storage Space on Average, Rockstar Confirms

So it turns out the original report was far closer to the truth than we might have hoped for.

There’s been a fair bit of confusion on exactly how much space Red Dead Redemption 2 will take on your console when installed. Will it be over 100GB? Will it come in at a bit over 50GB? Will it be at 89GB? We have had way too many conflicting reports. And now, Rockstar has finally decided to set the record straight once and for all.

So, first off, let’s make this clear—on average, you will need at least 100 GB of space clear on your console no matter what. Specifically, if you install from the disc, on Xbox One you will need 107 GB free, while on PS4, you will need 99 GB free. If you are downloading the game digitally, you will need to clear up 107 GB of space on your Xbox One, but 149 GB free on your PS4 (the final game install will come to 99 GB, but an additional 50 GB will be required during installation).

Which is absolutely crazy, but hey, I guess that is the price you pay for a game as ambitious as this. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26.
