What will Red Dead Redemption 2’s file size be? This should have been an easy question to answer, but conflicting reports over the last few weeks have given rise to plenty of confusion. Initial reports suggested that the game would take up a massive 105 GB of your system’s memory, but this was followed up by reports that suggested that the number would be less than half of that figure. However, not long after that, information emerged that the 50 GB figure was inaccurate.
Now, we have a third new figure being thrown into the discussion. As per Red Dead Redemption 2’s page on the Microsoft Store, the game’s file size will come up to 88.57 GB. In the absence of an official number confirmed by Rockstar, this is as close as we’ve gotten to “official”. The 105 GB reports came from images of the game’s PS4 Pro bundle, but it’s likely that those could have been placeholder images- but then again, that’s just an assumption.
As it stands right now, 88.57 GB looks like a likely figure, considering its source, but given the confusion surrounding the game’s file size, it’s probably best not to take this as an official confirmation either- for now, at any rate. Hopefully, we’ll get word from Rockstar about this sooner rather than later.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on October 26 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
