REPORT- Dragon Quest X has been in development for 6 years

A tweet from a Square Enix ex-employee, which was promptly deleted, of course, suggest that Dragon Quest X, the upcoming Wii and Wii U MMORPG, has been in development for 6 years.

Andriasang reported that ex Square Enix man Takeko Hoashi tweeted that Dragon Quest X has been in development for 6 long years. The tweet was deleted, though.

That means the game started development sometime around the World of Warcraft explosion. And by the time it releases next year, it will have had a seven year development cycle.

A reveal trailer was also released for DQX some days ago. Have look here. And don’t forget to check out the ten minute long gameplay video too. Square Enix also announced that they are developing the game internally. A huge surprise, especially considering that Dragon Quest VIII and IX were both developed by Level 5 and turned out to be great.

Dragon Quest X will require a persistent internet connection, of course, and players will have to pay for it (again, as expected).
