Hideki Kamiya is most known now for his games such as The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta, and the upcoming Scalebound. But not so long ago, he used to work at Capcom, where he was known for excellent titles such as Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and originally, the game which catapulted his career to begin with, Resident Evil 2.
“I go drinking with [longtime director on Resident Evil games] Jun Takeuchi quite often,” Kamiya said. “Every time I would go drinking with him I would pester him: ‘You’re going to remake that, right? You’re going to remake that, right? You’re going to remake that, right?’ And he’d say, ‘No, we’re busy with other games.’
But now that Resident Evil 2 is finally being remade, he is elated. “As a fan of that game, not just someone who made it, I’m really happy that they listened to me — to us,” he said, also confirming that he has nothing to do with the remake, though he does keep in touch with the person who is directing it.
Resident Evil 2‘s remake is due out some time in 2017.
