Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard launched in January 2017 and despite somewhat of a slow start, the developer stuck with the title. Along with paid DLC, it released free DLC like Not A Hero and continued promotions.
So while it may not have beaten the current series record holder Resident Evil 5 (which sold 7 million copies), Resident Evil 7 did sell over 5 million copies since launch as per a recent announcement. It’s kind of a shame really. Resident Evil 7 received rave reviews at launch, mostly due to a return to the series’ survival horror approach.
It even took a new perspective, quite literally at that, by first person. The story of the Bakers and Eveline may not have had the greatest ending but it delivered the scares and offered compelling DLC. Resident Evil 7 is currently available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. If you want to pick up the base game with all the DLC, check out the Gold Edition here.
