Hopoo Games took everyone by surprise when it released Risk of Rain 2 on Steam Early Access for PC recently. The developer has since announced partnership with Gearbox Publishing for more support in the coming months. Until then, the developer has offered its first update post since launch and revealed it was “absolutely floored” by the reception for the game.
“First, I just wanted to say from the whole team how absolutely floored we are with the reception so far,” the developer wrote. “I was personally hoping for something to match at least half of the original game: apparently we’re doing a LOT better. It’s absolutely surreal – thank you all again.”
The development team then outlined a number of minor points it observed from the first few days. It’s happy with the progression rate for classes even if they’re “a touch faster than intended”. Though many are calling the performance good, the developer is working to narrow down why the game seems to perform poorly on higher end configurations.
A general roadmap is still being decided on, especially when it comes to release of patches versus content updates. In the meantime, a patch will be going out tomorrow to address much of the feedback and critical bugs that players have reported. One such critical issue is that of a corrupted save file that’s preventing users from playing.
